New VCSU Heating Plant Dedication Ceremony

The state-of-the-art facility will benefit the university for decade

Construction of the new heating plant at Valley City State University is complete. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at the new $13.9 million dollar heating plant on the east end of the campus along College Street.

Wesley Wintch, is vice president for business affairs at VCSU. He said the state-of-the-art facility will benefit the university for decades. He said the new heating plant is also designed for a future activated carbon plant addition. Once completed, the carbon plant would generate revenue and provide research opportunities for students and staff.

Ron Pommerer is the former director for facilities services at VCSU. He said it was hard work keeping the 100 plus year old plant working the last few years. He talked about how challenging it was with the old coal boiler.
