Elbow Lake breaks ground for new county building

Grant County Office Complex

A long awaited project broke ground last Wednesday afternoon. A Groundbreaking ceremony was held for a Grant County Office Complex, a project that has been in the works for a few years.

Gene Wenstrom, director of the Economic Development Authority in Elbow Lake, is excited to finally dig into the building of this complex.

“We have been working on this for four years,” Wenstrom said. “From the conception of the building to now, I am happy to see it finally coming to fruition.”

Gathered at the Groundbreaking was Mayor of Elbow Lake, Deb Hengel, community members, Grant County Commissioners, Elbow Lake City Council members, Elbow Lake EDA board members, a representative of Kraus-Anderson Construction Co. and the Grant County staff who will work in the building.

Hengel is also eager to see the complex completed. In a speech she gave at the Groundbreaking, she said Wednesday’s event was a part of the county’s and city’s past, present and future and is a part of an ongoing effort of Grant County to provide for its people.

“It is exciting to see this building come to be through a county and city partnership, which has kept the needs of the residents of our county foremost in the decision making process,” Hengel said.

The Grant County Office Complex will hopefully be ready for use by next December.
