Bismarck State College Allied Health Sciences

Due to a vastly undersized and outdated facility, Bismarck State College called on JLG to deliver a vision that would help BSC attract prospective students by providing a new state-of-the-art health education geared facility for the Health Sciences Department. The new facility, formerly used as a call center occupying a 35,000 SF space, gave JLG and BSC the opportunity to re-envision the learning environment for their students and improve functionality. While the departments would benefit from increased space, it was apparent that the total square footage was large for the current needs so in redesigning the space the design team was able to set aside strategic space for future growth. Fully repurposing the space allowed JLG to provide new space for each department, access to daylight, and enhanced circulation and wayfinding in a space that exemplifies the characteristics of a medical facility. Students will be able to take advantage of one of the best views in Bismarck while utilizing modern classrooms, a shared student lounge and enlarged labs, and enjoy the benefit of being closer to the BSC campus than the previous location of the Health Sciences Department.
