City of Williston Space and Operations Study

The City of Williston has experienced unprecedented growth in population over the last few years as a result of the activity associated with the oil industry in western North Dakota. The workload of the various governmental departments has increased dramatically due to the increased population and building activity, and additional space and efficiency are vital to the future health, security and performance of these various departments. This too, correlates to the health, safety and welfare of the public that they serve.

Because of this, this City of Williston facilitated a space and operations study for the following City facilities: City Hall, Public Works and the MDU Building (Building Department). The goal of this study was to analyze these existing facilities, determine current programming needs, and develop options for long-term facility needs based on extensive case study research, trends, and multipliers for growth.

These options were developed based off of input from Committee leadership and from the Community of Williston. With each option, cost estimates were developed and analyzed so future informed decisions can be made regarding existing and new facilities that may be built. Ultimately the outcome of the study was to provide framework for future facilities that can be flexible to growth and development of the government and the City of Williston.
