Groton Elementary School

Groton, South Dakota

During spring of 2016 FJJ solutions, JLG Architects, and ONE spent time in the Groton Elementary building analyzing physical building attributes, operational characteristics, mechanical systems, and the overall school environment.

Through staff interviews, group meetings, and a summary of surveys, FJJ Solutions issued a scoping document with the following improvement recommendations: classroom space improvements, administration/multi use addition, security improvements, parent drop off/teacher parking, technology improvements, SPED space improvements, building envelope improvements, code upgrades, asbestos abatement, classroom repurpose, and M/E improvements.

JLG Architects has worked closely with the district through meetings with the steering committee and user groups to develop a design that meets these goals. The final design includes renovation to existing classroom and administrative spaces as well as a 5,900 sf administration and commons addition.
