Hillside Aquatics Complex

Bismarck, North Dakota

Hillside Pool first opened in 1953, and offered open community/meeting room on the upper level and enclosed changing rooms for boy and girls on the lower level. This jewel of Lions Hillside Park was enjoyed by thousands of patrons and saw even greater use when large waterslide was added. However, by 2008, the slide had deteriorated and was removed. In addition, the building lacks accessibility, finishes are in poor condition, and the pool itself has developed mechanical and physical issues that require considerable repair or replacement. JLG’s plan updated the facility to once again return it to the center of fun for summer in Bismarck.

The now accessible community room received new finishes and a large glass wall that created a fun, open, and colorful space for various events. The locker rooms were redesigned to create a better flow between, lockers, restrooms, and showers. A new pool with many features and multiple water slides were added to create an exciting and active environment for patrons of all ages.
