King’s Walk Clubhouse

Grand Forks, North Dakota

The King’s Walk Golf Course, designed by Arnold Palmer, utilizes native grasses and rolling knolls to evoke a prairie feel. The clubhouse responds to the character of the course through the use of vernacular forms and is clad in materials familiar to the region’s countryside.

Lap siding, simple roof planes, and fieldstone base, both tie to the prairie and at the same time come together to create an object that is recognizable from any place on the course. The clubhouse includes a lounge, dining area, and pro shop, with golf cart storage below.

This project received a 2002 AIA North Dakota Design Award.
