Reed River Trading Company

Roseau, Minnesota

The Reed River Trading Company is a mixed-use venture located in an old Land-O-Lakes drying plant in Roseau, MN. The building contains 1000 sf of retail, a 5,000 sf exhibit space for Polaris Industries, and 7,000 sf of upscale restaurant. The building appears much the same as it did at the height of the dairy operation, drawing on the existing cream-colored glazed wall tiles, red quarry tile flooring, exposed building structure, and blonde exterior brick for character.

Complementing these are exposed ceilings and systems, which add to the open, lofty feel of both the restaurant and exhibition spaces. Every effort was made to retain the look and feel of the existing structure and spaces of this building that helped contribute so greatly to the economic and social growth of not only Roseau County, but the entire region.

This project received a 2002 AIA North Dakota Design Award.
