Space Aliens

Grand Forks, North Dakota

Space Aliens, a North Dakota-based theme restaurant, opened a 7,700 square foot store in the spring of 2009. By converting and adding onto an existing 6,200 square foot building, JLG helped the client save initial costs for infrastructure and site development.

Space Aliens’ model focuses on smoked meats (ribs, brisket, chicken) and stone oven pizzas, plus offering a large gaming area for children and a place to redeem tickets for prizes. The final design created fresh interiors for the Bar From Mars, Prize Distribution Center, large open dining room, private dining area, and Game Room. Working closely with ownership and Space Aliens’ corporate theming crew, JLG developed creative ways to utilize existing spaces and transform them through color, simple volumes, and themed materials.

The kitchen spaces were re-worked to allow new meat smoker, pizza ovens, and necessary ventilation equipment. The result is was a fresh look, exciting atmosphere, and lively space to provide high energy family entertainment. Like the Space Aliens tagline states, the design was “Out of This World.”
