With the large increase in traffic on the western side of North Dakota in the last few years, the Owners of The HUB Convenience Store saw the need for a ‘one-stop-shop’ on the north side of Dickinson – a high-end convenience store that would go above-and-beyond to provide food options different than what would be expected from similar establishments.

JLG’s solution creates a modern dining, retail, and fuel destination designed so efficiently that it is able to use the same number of shift workers as a smaller store, despite the addition of fresh food and separated gas pumps. On the exterior, carefully angled and generous use of glazing and clerestory windows provide a lighted beacon with glimpses of the products inside: two anchor tenants – Schlotzsky’s Deli and Cinnabon Express – hot and cold food made fresh on-site daily, Godfather’s Pizza, a walk-in “beer cave”, and North Dakota’s biggest selection of fountain soda.

Gas and diesel pumps are on different sides and traffic is zoned to separate passenger and fleet vehicles for travel efficiency and safety, and are serviced with a 90’ conveyorized soft-touch automatic car wash. The Hub was named “Best Original Store Design” by Convenience Store News in 2015.
