Ward County Courthouse

After the County staff moved from the Courthouse into the new County Administration Building the historic Ward County Courthouse was remodeled to support expanded, relocated, and re-purposed office and Courts spaces. Cramped States Attorney offices were relocated to the second floor to provide much needed additional space to meet an increasing case load and to meet the forecasted long-term staffing requirements. Courts Administration and Recorders offices were also expanded to better serve the public and provide addition opportunities for citizen interaction.

Altogether, 18,000 SF of space was brought up to contemporary office standards. Security was enhanced by adding entry-point metal detectors and guards station, as well as card-reader access throughout. Being on the National Register of Historic Places, the finely-detailed and decorated Art Deco interiors were sensitively preserved and restored as a new fire sprinkler system was carefully woven throughout the entire 62,500 SF facility, including the three-story atrium, public corridors and highly-refined elegantly-designed historic Courtrooms.
